DAVAO City standouts Zoren Patrick Mendiola and Jacqueline Caragao reaped top honors at the close of the Mayor Sara and Vice Mayor Duterte Kadayawan Table Tennis Tournament at the NCCC Mall activity center over the weekend.

Mendiola, a varsity player at the University of Sto. Tomas, beat Michael Paña, 3-1, in their men’s singles championship match. Paña took the runner-up honors instead while Christian Vicente placed third.

QUESTION:  WWW (What Went Wrong) with the 3rd TATAP National Open supposedly scheduled this coming October 15-18, 2010 in Mandaue City, Cebu  and now re-sked in Ultra, Pasig MM on Nov. 3-7 ?

ANSWER:   Mandaue City government is very ready to host that event but a call from certain Atty. from TATAP ruin the event that is favorable for the Visayas and Mindanao kids to join and compete with less expenses.

My wife just told me that ABS-CBN had a short Liha table tennis report. I guess most of you saw the report from TV Patrol.

The video was all about our Liha Pongers who were invited by USATTA to play the inaugural Liha event in US Open. The tournament actually highlight the long history of table tennis between US and the Philippines way back after the world war when Americans visited us with top caliber players like Cartland and Hardbat living legend and world champion Marty Reisman.

Unfortunately, the dream did not come true for so many reasons like THIS, THIS and THIS (TATAP official, sangkot sa human trafficking).
