THE new leadership of Table Tennis Association of the Philippines (TATAP) is hosting the 1st Philippine National Table Tennis Championship on October 8-12 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

TATAP newly-elected President PSSupt Cesar Hawthorne Binag said the tournament, which requires no entry fee, will help the association to discover new talents to form the future men’s, women’s and junior National Team.

“We are encouraging everybody to participate in this project especially the youth who are dreaming to become future national players,” said Binag. “This is your chance to become part of the history.”

The expected participants, Binag said, will represent their respective cities, provinces and other national institutions. “That’s the easiest way to find new talents in table tennis. TATAP should be approachable.”

Binag also said the probable scheduled events are men’s and women’s team, men’s and women’s singles and doubles, mixed doubles, boy’s and girl’s singles events.

The prospectus and other details regarding the tournament will come out soon.

Aside from Binag, other TATAP officers who will organize the first annual tournament are vice-president PO3 Jose Ortalla Jr, Chairman Alvin Carranza, secretary lawyer Domingo Panlilio, Arnel Berroya and auditor Dante Boquiren.

That is very good… But then it’s very difficult for us who are far from manila. It would be best for all of us if TATAP were to hold tourneys in the provinces. Starting with those farthest from manila. It would take much effort but it will pay off eventually…

Manila is far, and the traffic aggravates the whole process of going there back and forth. I hope the new leadership will consider doing small events on a city or town basis.

Pwede sana free din ang dormitory for outside Manila players. Transpo at meal allowances na lang for the promdi kids sponsor. Dapat mag coordinate din sila sa Phil. Olympics comittee because Mr. Aventajado is in-charge of the Manila, Visayas and Mindanao qualifying games this coming August for table tennis. Kung ang mga top 3 or top 5 for every age category, Pwede nang 2 days ang selection instead of 4 days. ;)

The expenses of the participants will be shouldered by their respective local goverment units. The TATAP in coordination with the DILG will disseminate the informations to the mayors, governors & other local units to provide the expenses necessasry for the participation of their respective teams. The Philippine Sports Commission will provide free accomodation for the 1st 300 participants at the Ultra-Sports Dormitory. TATAP will appoint coordinators for each of the city/province/LGUs to facilitate necessities required for their participation in the Championships. TATAP Coordinators will be posted soon.
