THE Metro Table Tennis League (MTTL) of the Philippines is set to hold the first Felipe G. Pigao Cup National invitational table tennis team championship on August 16 to 17, 2008 at the Club 650 in Libis Quezon City.
MTTL President Julius Esposo, the women’s national head coach, is inviting every table tennis players,clubs and schools around the country to participate in the big event dedicated to former national table tennis head coach Philip Pigao.
Pigao trained various national players like Taky Santelices, Julius Esposo, Oscar Santelices, Gigi Aguinalde and Jet Yatco, among others.
The two-day table tennis team event, supported by Club 650, Pizza hut Philippines, Emperador distillers, Aerophone, Hao-Hao Soya Milk, Walter Bread, 100 plus and Accel, is giving away P20, 000 cash prized and trophy to the winners.
The original schedule of the tournament was actually set on July 5-6, but Booddie Pigao, the son of Philip Pigao, had requested to move the tournament in August to give others a chance to participate.
The early participants in the tournament are Green Paddle, TATAND, Hua Ching, MTH, Club650, University of Santo Tomas, University of the Philippines, Philippine Women U, PCU, San Carlos, PNP, Andro, Joola, Saint Benilde, De La Salle Manila, Ateneo and Saint Martin High.

He was the former coach of Philippines’ table tennis legends like Rey Domingo, Hector Cabrido, Benito Lim, Nestor Ferre, Oscar Santelices, Tacky Santelices, Luisa Espino, Beth Bernardo, Gerly Ibañez, Emma de Guzman, Melita Bauto, Nida Saligumba, the late Jaime Ibañez & Bitoy Asis and other nationals like Jet Yatco, Danny Panaguiton, Mario Breiva, Antonio Aguinalde, Julius Y. Esposo, Jon-Jon Flores, Josie Sinaban, Rowena Malaya, Susan Tayag and more.
