Speed Dethroned Champ
Defending champion Champ Nanaman of DotPH was defeated by Speed Tanque of LOPTTA in the deciding set of the quarter-finals, the scholar challenge in the opening of the 2008 Huaching Invitational Tournament here in Maguikay, Mandaue City. Nanaman’s poor service returns gave Tanque the power forehand spins pressure for the defending champion–12-10, 7-11, 11-8, 11-6. Nico Cruz of METTA lost to Glendo Nayre of University of Cebu in a deciding set–11-9, 4-11, 11-7, 4-11, 11-8. Michael Motel, Speed Tanque, Glendo Nayre and the winner between Handel Yap vs. Glenn Rodriguez will see the semi-finals action tomorrow. Around 13 teams competed in this prestigious yearly Tournament:
