Laos SEAG Updates
We still have enough preparation left for SEAG but this time it is for 2011, time to forget 2009 SEAG and the issues that we had lately.
The best will come from 21 sports as the RP sports officials decided to scrap the RP bets participation in indoor volleyball, beach volleyball, badminton, football, table tennis and soft tennis. – PSC
Feel free to comment if you have better ideas but please let’s make our discussion healthy. There are some negative post (or should I say constructive analysis) lately against TATAP. If you are not happy with our association we can blame TATAP as a whole because it is not managed by a single person and dropping a name will only end up in heated debate and negative results.
Always remember that we all love table tennis, let’s move on.

Does this mean that the coming selection for SEAG in Ateneo is now cancelled? Is there a formal announcement from TATAP or will they still continue?
Let’s have an inter-club tournaments year-round (parang PBA) for the selection process whos club to compete in SEAG. If the current Phil. Team members do not have a club, they must start joining a club they want to.
could anyone answer diotay question?
ako din hindi ko maintindihan eh,thanks…
Maybe they will continue the selection at ang qualifiers for record purposes na lang?
If ever TATAP decides to continue just for the record, then it would be a lot better if they just put it in December during the 2nd TATAP National Championship. Otherwise, double expenses sa mga provincial players as they will again go to Manila in December for the team, doubles, & mixed doubles events. Unless TATAP does not care about the provincial players “double” expenses then they will go on next week.
One thing bothers me, I have read several months ago that table tennis was never part of the SEAG under Angping’s list but TATAP still continues to hold a selection. Does this mean that TATAP can field their own players provided that they pay for their airplane tickets only? I am sure the board and lodging are free and so is the food. Maybe this is the reason why TATAP did not announce any cancellation of next week’s selection as they are determine to go one way or another? I could be wrong.
Sir Diotay, you could be right! ganun ginagawa nang Cebu everytime me laro abroad, kung walang ipapadala ang TATAP sila coach Jiji ang pupunta at their own expenses. Pwedeng-pwede yan sa SEAG as long as OK ke Mr. Angpin if TATAP or the team members provide their own plane tickets.
Is honorable Angping aware that Richard Gonzales is the SEATTA Champ
diotay and butch, please don’t speculate things. I say; No player can represent the country at SEAG without proper accreditation from POC kahit may pera ka pa. Mr.Angping does not have the sole power to send any athlete but POC. Ano ba naman kayo, never suggest a remote possibility. Review and read my past postings on this. Once again, ang sure na mayroon slots sa short list to go to Laos SEAG are those athletes who won gold and silver meadals in the 2007 Thailang SEAG at yong mga olympians. In the case of table tennis, mga candidates palang ang mga national players natin as of this time kasi no one qualifies yet as far as the above requirements are concerned. With regards to Richard Gonzales’ winning feat in the SEATTA tournament, TATAP can make justifications as their basis with POC about this. This is possible and maybe he can make it to Laos SEAG. Alam kaya ng TATAP that there is still this possibility? o ayan, I’m giving you a tip and unsolicited advice na may pag-asa pa rin maka pagpadala ang community natin ng player sa Laos SEAG. TATAP must justify Gonzales’s credentials with POC first Ngayon, naniwala na kayo sa sinabi ko sa write up about this topic before?
This is an insult to METTA, LOPTTA, TATAND, FIL-CHI, and other TT clubs dahil may kakayahan din naman sila kung logistics ang paguusapan. Lets be responsible posters ok?
this is the same thing i was thinking yesterday…a league of clubs nationwide….
Masusan,
I will not speculate but will be logical. TATAP announced that there will be a qualification then a ranking among the top 5 and last year’s top 5 players as to who will go to Laos. No announcement that it is cancelled or postponed nor the Laos trip. Therefore, the winners will go to Laos as published. Otherwise, in business parlance, false advertising.
If the winners will go to Laos but table tennis is not included in Angping’s list, then logic dictates that there is a way. TATAP must have found a way. Not only for Richard Gonzales but for the top 5 players. Since there is no logical explanation to justify their going to Laos except for Richard, then how will they do it?
I would now speculate that TATAP can justify to POC that sending the recent top 5 (mens and womens) will not cost the government a single centavo and TATAP/players will take care of it. Since no money is involve, then POC might/will agree. Remember, Angping does not want to spend government’s money for athletes who has no chance of winning. He is silent for those NSA willing to shoulder the expense.
An hour ago, I met Alvin C here in Bacolod for the Masskara Festival and he is also at a loss on how TATAP will do it.
Wala lang inventory before or hanggang ngayon.
@Masusan: Logic… wala namang gastos gobyerno eh, baka “maka-tsamba” sa Laos by letting them play with their own expenses, mga tunay na pinoy naman sila ah?
Brova ka talaga Masusan,bilib ako sa mga pinopost mo.Dami me natutunan,very malalim talaga.
kakosa
TATAP never replies. Even all my emails are left unanswered. They just do what they decide either good or bad. Someone told me that since its the same old guys running it, then expect the same old unproductive system. Alvin said he will do something about it.
Having a selection and having a fair and transparent selection are two different things. During the time of Victor, our player merged as number one without losing a game against the top 10 for SEAG in Manila. Since the women coach have bragged that she cannot play as long as he is coach, he did everything to stop our player. The coach urged Victor to have another selection. We qualified. Then they decided the new top ten to have 8 monthly rankings with points (meaning our provincial player has to go to Manila every month hoping we would back out on the huge expenses but did not).
We made clear from the very start our understanding on the ranking points system which the coach agreed. During the rankings, the coach players manipulated their games to help those who need the points in order to qualify and bring us down. Strong players just lost to a weaker player. I left for abroad and when I came back, the ranking suddenly stopped and the list was given to POC without our player’s name and if we follow what was argeed on the ranking points, she was number 3. I presented in writing my computations but the coach said that the old guideline was followed. The one that give the coaches power to manipulate since the guidelines are only found in his head. When I asked for a written copy of the guidelines, TATAP could not present one immediately since there was none. After several days of complaining to Victor, TATAP faxed a hurriedly made guidelines which was full of errors and loopholes. I resigned immediately from TATAP knowing that it’s useless to try to change TATAP for the betterment of table tennis. Unless you change everyone and start a new.
The quest for a fair and transparency dealings of TATAP does not end at the selection but up to the rankings, training, etc. and ends only in Laos.
@Mr. Diotay, sa guidelines pala kayo niyari ah? regarding the “national coach” issue mas malala ang nangyari sa mga promdi the time of the late Ernie Jawad and coach Raffy San Juan ranking selection in Manila. Coach Raffy San Juan can narrate what went wrong that time bakit umuwi sila sa probinsya broken hearted.
For me, SEAG preparation for 2011 should start with an inter-club tournaments just like Bundesliga of Germany.
@sir yogi, tell sir Adham dapat may inventory lahat…
naalala ko nga pala nung 2007 pinadalhan rin tayo ng STAG ng mga gamit like the tables and everything pero san na yun???? wla akong naalalang press release about dun ah? sinabi sa akin ng isang division director ng ITTF about this san na ang mga yun????
Related press release.

…”you voted for me, so I will let you go”! me logic din?
Go..go..go Team Phils.!!!
So hindi naman pala natutulog ang TATAP, Nag request naman ang body to be included sa SEAG this Dec. Now what we do is hope for the best.
@boyang
Cool, wish them all the best. Nagising sa alarm clock kasi.
harry,
After reading the article in the Manila Times, my opinion is… just because one practiced day and night with so many foreign coaches does not make a player win medals if the level of play is still way off the mark.
Maybe a good example is running. If the world record in 100 meter dash is below 9 seconds and our athlete practice like there is no tomorrow, hired the coach of Bolt, etc. and his best time is 14 seconds, I don’t think it is proper to send him using government’s money just because he practiced hard. Even if the club have spent thousands of pesos does not merit inclusion in the select group that has a chance of winning a medal.
More so to send an athlete without a chance of winning a medal just because he practiced hard, will open an avalance of other athletes from different NSA to avail the opportunity. We will then go back to square one. Sending hundreds of athletes in all SEAG which Angping is against.
This is just my own personal belief.
Mr. Diotay,
The way to quantify table tennis was their performance last 2005 SEAG and Richard Gonzales’ feat. Jon Ebuen and Ting Ledesma added their superb performances in the US tournaments. These accomplishments might justify the “GO” signal for TT Phil. Team.
They got tips from here….from our posts…
I have already laid down points in my pevious posts re creteria for Laos SEAG inclusion.
Butch, hindi po “baka makatsamba sa SEAG” ang point dito…kahit tsamba nga hindi kaya kasi wala naman talaga comprehensive training program ang mga national players natin..Hell training for our national team for Laos SEAG should have started last Jan, kaso kahit nga tryout/selection wala pa nga…As in they are not ready yet…they are not prepared to compete so to speak…
A good day to you all,i’ve just read your discussion here on this section,im from far away table tennis club,i just want to be clear in my mind, who’s who are the one who has the right to select the Philippines players for the SEAG? and please tell all the readers that where does the real selection to be made? is it really on Hao Chin Tour? or is it on the Phil. National Games? Hope that every table tennis enthusiast have to know, because we here in the province spends time and especially money for this competition,only for the experience of our players..thank you ery much,pls visit our website – http://www.riversidettc.weebly.com Thank You and God Bless Philippine table Tennis.
@masusan
You bet, tatap is like a thief in the night. They visit here, pick what they want and leave what they don’t. Too bad, they hate constructive criticism.
@RiverSideTTC
They said Hao Chin but…
The latest info I got is that all top 3 players in the recently played selection will go to Laos, all expense paid. The remaining 2 players will have to look for sponsors.
Now, the country has participation in table tennis contrary to news report of Angping’s exclusion.
1. Richard Gonzales
2. Ting Ledesma
3. Ireneo Valle
Tama ba ako?
Tama po sir butch
Congrats to the top 3! Yon of Indonesia will be your measuring gauge this coming Huaching Invitational… hope to see you guys in Mandaue City this coming Nov.7!
sir ting God bless sa laro mo
Yes! we all LOVE Table Tennis, and as part of loving is CORRECTING the WRONG DOINGS of your LOVEONES! Have you recognize any GOOD THING/CHANGE in TATAP LATELY? Are the PLAYERS well motivated? Are the OFFICERS hearing the CONCERNS? Are the OFFICERS go for the WELFARE of all CONCERNS or for their own Benefits ALONE?! lagi na lang ikinukumpara natin si ang ADMINISTRASYON ni VICTOR sa ngayon?! HAHAHA! masakit ang katotohanang kaya lang patuloy na BUHAY ang TATAP dahil sa TOTOONG pagmaMAHAL natin sa TABLE TENNIS…pero tuluyan itong maghihikahos kung patuloy tayong magiging SIBIL lang sa ISA’T ISA at magbubulag BULAG-an lang… sabi nga sa isang dasal, FORGIVE us…for what I have DONE, and for what I have FAILED to DO!
over-all sino ang top 5?
@diotay
Maraming salamat po sir yogi,as a player all i want to say is i will do my best for the love of our sport and our country…
Harry,
It is not easy to look or even convince a sponsor if that sponsor’s product is not related to table tennis. I have not seen an international event where a player wears a uniform carrying Jollibee, Walmart, Ford, etc. logos. The only companies who can do it are those carrying table tennis products like butterfly, stiga, nitaku, etc. I might be wrong.
The remaining 2 players who were not included will have to look for sponsors which the sponsors get nothing in return except a thank you. These sponsors cannot even put their company logos since the uniforms for all should be the same and they only sponsored 1 or 2. This is a pure dole out.
Another thing, TATAP will ask POC for money for the 3 players only. This means that the 3 players are enough to join all the events in table tennis. The remaining 2 players are just extra players if ever they can find a sponsor.
Also, there is a possibility that these 2 will just be bench warmers if the coach decides not to field them. This has happened here in Manila SEAG when the women’s coach did not allow one woman player to play in the entire tournament. This player received monthly allowances, trained hard and was given uniforms. Whatever is the reason, it is again found only in his head as no written policies were made. The poor girl just sat on the bench in the entire tournament. This is the same coach that dropped our qualified player.
3 players
pete
@diotay,
kakosa,
Allow me to rephrase your point. I agree that one should follow the wishes of his COMPETENT coach. But for a coach who has done nothing for 5 years, no medals to show, poor international performances,etc. there must be something wrong with him.
As you said, “lahat kulang ang exposure ng mga players” so why bench warm a player? By allowing that player to play, will not change the situation anyway. Talo pa rin tayo. Those who have witnessed the SEAG TT games here, no contest ang mga women’s players natin sa lahat ng kanilang kalaban. So why did the coach not allowed her to gain an international caliber experience?
There are many kinds of coaches. Some uses their head,others don’t. Some uses their logic, others their emotions. Some tries to experiement something different when all things fail, others just continue the losing way. But I respect and admire most is one who knows that he is not effective anymore and therefore resigns. Look at Ateneo basketball coach Norman Black(?). He resigned when he cannot deliver a championship trophy for years. After his resignation, Atenao won twice in a row!
I look down on coaches who cling to their post when they know they are ineffective. Worst are coaches who do not know they are ineffective.
As to the blaming of the coach if the players failed to deliver is but a natural reaction. It is called chain of responsibility. You do not blame the soldiers but the generals if you lose a battle.
Maybe this is the reason why we don’t excel much as we try to take the blame/responsibility away from the coaches. You end up with mediocre coaches.
congrats sa rp team!better late!
I’m happy that this forum is quite active nowadays…This only shows awareness/consciouness of what’s happening in our TT community. As I’ve said before, We are TATAP, not Dodong Ortalla at mga kasama niya sa bulok na pamamalakad ng TATAP. Dapat nga noon pa ito nangyari diba? After I started posting some relevant issues concerning TATAP affairs, medyo nagising lahat. Bakit ba tayo matatakot if only we are on the side of truth. That was my goal, my very purpose of writing in this forum. I feel that it was the right tim to be united to fight corruption and mismanagement of our beloved NSA. Being vocal of all the wrongdoings of these few people is helping our TT community.
We shouldn’t be passive on things that need to be exposed. I agree with what you wrote, iyan ay katotohanan lang at panay katotohanan. Lets not lose hope mga kapatid, may bagong pag-asa din tayong makakamtan pag matiyaga lang, malapit na…I promise you.
Mr. Diotay, now you believe what I said in one of my posts re creteria for selection or inclusion to Laos SEAG? hindi ang PSC ang may power to select or choose athletes who will represent our country in Laos SEAG, it’s POC. I remember nagkaroon mg conflict ang PSC at POC about this, infact nagkaroon pa ng botohan..TATAP VP Ortalla even wanted to vote in favor of Angping,{PA POGI POINTS KUNO) but sorry to say TATAP president Binag voted in favor of POC dahil iyon ang tama, iyon ang nararapat. PSC is just the government’s sports funding institution/agency and it has no right whatsoever to select/choose athletes for SEAG/AG/Olympics. Ano akala ni Angping, that he is the king of all kings? I even posted a tip to TATAP leadership, that TATAP can send players to SEAG as long as they can justify inclusion of said players. Kailangan lang that the players have undergone selection process at sila ang lumabas na winners or top 5 at hindi yong kukunin na lang kung saang palengke porke kilalala sila at may pera. With regards to the remaining 2 players, POC can still fund them if they can be justified that their participation is needed and valuable. if not, then TATAP should and must fund them, not the players for christ sake….Dito makikita natin kung ang mga pinuno ng TATAP ay ginagampanan ang mga tungkulin nila…I challenge you all!! For once…do something for these players naman PLEASE!!!!!! na noon niyo pa ginagago.
Mr. Diotay, iba ang nangyari sa 2007 SEAG. Ng hinawakan na ni Coach Gigi Aguinalde ang coaching sa women’s team, naiba na ang pamalakad, Nagkaroon ng motivation at fighting spirit ang mga babae natin, katulad sa men’s team during the 2005 SEAG hanep gayod ang attitude at sprit ng team to win kaya nanalo nga. After 2005, nawala na ang gigil…A coach is an “everything” person. name it, he/she is the one. The players speak for the coaches…In fairness to coach Lauro, marunong din naman siya kaya lang inalis siya nila Dodong Ortalla dahil hindi siya kakosa nila, you know what I mean diba? Eh sino ba naman ang coach ng babae ngayon? who is he? what are his qualifications? Tama pareho…somebody who sees no evil, hears no evil, and talks no evil? Hahahahahahahahaahahahaha! nakakatawa talaga!!!!!!!
Sir Diotay,
ang layo po ng basketball at pingpong sir,basketball is about team work.
kakosa,
We differ in our level of understanding on certain topics.
One, COACHES. All coaches are the same whether its table tennis or basketball. A good coach knows how to motivate a player or all his players (basketball) to play exceptionally well. A good coach should know tactics and strategies when fielding his players. A good coach should know the strengths and weaknesses of his players.
A poor coach is one who will field his top player who is allergic to pimples to play against a pimple player. So what was the results in SEAG Manila? Our top player never made a score higher than 6 and the lowest is 3 if I remembered right. This is a sign of a mediocre coach who does not study their opponents or know the weaknesses of his player.
Two – TEAM WORK. There is team work in the team, mixed doubles and doubles events.
Do you know why players never complain about their coaches? They are afraid to lose their monthly allowances. I know several national players who confided in me that their coach is only good in the training programs copied from other countries but very poor in motivating them. The coaches also have their own “favorites” when fielding the players, they are the ones who plays the most.
I might agree with your opinion that the players did improve but not enough to win under that coach. But for 5 long years as a coach and he has given nothing for our country, there must be something wrong. I am sure our country did not hire a coach for 5 years to just improve our players game BUT TO WIN GAMES! If the main purpose of having a coach for 5 long years is to help his players improved but not enough to win medals, then I am not surprise why our table tennis program is not giving us good results.
Anyway, its water under the bridge.
Let’s just wish them luck in Laos.
Sir diotay,
Kakosa,
I am only speaking from the time I was active in TATAP and that was years ago. From the comments here, I am sure there are now improvements not only on the coaches but also the players.
I respect your opinion and from what you feel about the situations of the coaches and players during that time. But I still stand on what I have posted as Victor have called me several times to have a meeting with him to help solve the problems of the phil team namely, game fixing by players during the rankings, no motivation during practices when the final 5 players were chosen months ahead of the tournaments, complaints of players/coaches, etc. We met with coaches only and players only to get a clearer picture of the problem. I also met with players on a one on one basis.
But let me make it clear that I am only commenting on some and not all those involved in the phil team. As a whole, we formed a good team but it could have been better.
“ask not what TATAP can do for you, but what you can do for TATAP” Does anyone from you knows who quoted that?
butch dapat ganito sinulat mo.. ask not what tatap can do for you, but what you can give to the pocket of tatapnp VP.
@mel
http://tatap.ph/index.php?p=1_19_List-of-TATAP-Coordinators
How about tournaments played in public places like shopping malls, still hard to find and convince sponsors?
For international events, there are non table tennis brand sponsors like Liebherr (heavy equipment and home appliances) for German team, Bingo Lotto for Swedish, All Nippon Airways (ANA) for Japanese, Korean Air for Korean. Maybe Andoks Lechon Manok for us.
Sobrang kalungkot ang mga nababasa ko d2,
ito ang pinaka…KALUNGKOT! as far as I know the players of TATAP/ National Team has given their sweat, blood, time, effort, LIFE for the LOVE of TABLE TENNIS…and in return, what do they get? a mere allowances that isnt enough even for their own selves and needs? we should understand that the players are literally sacrificing even their own families, we all know that most of the players are not welloff, so please, let us not further add the burdens of the players by making them ask for their own tickets.
@gym,
Your right sir,sana po mabigyan naman po ang mga kateam mate ko ng mga supply tulad ng goma,racket,complete uniform,shoes and other athlete needs.
@kakosa, if you don’t mind me asking, ano po ba yung current setup nyo at sina richard at valle sa goma at kahoy?
guys,
one side of the coin says scratch out ang table tennis sa games ayon ba ito sa psc? .if base on payagan ?
the other side of the coin says – base on excited na rading dito, – pupunta naman daw pero 3 lang ‘which is which’ punta ba or hindi? super sure na ba ito?
and at whose expense and approval/support ——— poc , psc?
sorry medyo naguguluhan me.
kaya between may laban na goma or
alam nyo it all depends sa individual tao.
ano ba habol nyo sa so called: table tennis! this is ‘soul searching ‘time, an dbe honest with yourself.
health improvement
pera
fame
to answer your scholarship
ano pa ?
many – a mixture of this.
pete
@kakosa, if you don’t mind me asking, ano po ba yung current setup nyo at sina richard at valle sa goma at kahoy?
Current score: 0
my current set up Malin carbon fh haifu bluewhale 2 bh donic silver
si vale sardius fh tenergy 64(tagpi tagpi ang ginagamit niyang goma kanina)bh x-tend yata
si Richard bryce speed yata at tsp long pimps,dont know the wood he is using
@ pete; sir,baka po di nyo masyadong ISSUE or even the TRUE SENTIMENTS here…
tsk!
@butch: ur welcome. anything for the cdo team. hehehe
@kakosa: ayus pala gamit nyo at ni richard and valle although tagpi2x pero t64 pa rin yun. hehehe sino po ba ang current (or magiging) coach ng men phil team for laos?
@ryanp,
@gym,
Vale is a good player and have a very long pasensiya in his heart,grabe talaga ang kumpare kong yan kaya tumutulong din po ako sa kanya kahit pakonti konti.
@kakosa: ito lang po yung tinanong ko-> “sino po ba ang current (or magiging) coach ng men phil team for laos?”, wag na po kayong mabahala, yun na po ang last kung tanong sa inyu.
@ryanp
si henberd ang current coach sa men’s team.pero balita ko maglalaro sya sa doubles with richard.
So, Henberd will be the playing coach?
Nanaman?! Pinuna na ito ni Sir MASUSAN sa previous topics, and he is right, COACH HENBERD ORTALLA should concentrate being a coach for ALL players of TT RP TEAM (not with Gonzales ALONE!) How will COACH HENBERD ORTALLA motivate his players if his not showing TRUST and confidence to them (because for me, playing in behalf of them is a bulgar way of showing distrust to players ability). And besides, he should make up his mind if he really like to play or be a coach?! (syempre, coach, mas malaki ang sweldo! hehehe!)
If he really wants to play, he SHOULD have undergone the same PROTOCOL/ PROCESS of RANKING! (or perhaps your not even CONFIDENT enough with your own PLAYING SKILLS, huh, COACH HENBERD ORTALLA?!)
As for me it is very UNBECOMING of him! You COACH HENBERD ORTALLA should ATLEAST show GOOD EXAMPLE as a COACH! At para sa akin, ang gawi mo ng paglalaro sa SEAG (na naksanayan mo na yata tulad din noong nakaraan SEAG) ay kung hindi man kawalan ng TIWALA sa Player (since you have the reason: hindi mo sila na TRAIN talaga), Ito ay isang PANDARAYA! (sa sweldo bilang COACH at pagTAKAS sa RANKING!)
kakosa,
The latest news I read is that POC is willing to add more athletes to join the SEAG PROVIDED PSC will shoulder their expenses. I believe this is the only solution for Angping to keep his word that the POC will only support athletes who has a chance of winning medals. For those who cannot reach the standard, they will have to look for sponsors. This will make everybody happy.
By the way, besides you who are our men’s and women’s players who will go to Laos?
CORRECTIONS: It’s PSC for Angping and not POC (Cojuangco) in the above posting.
PSC under Angping now is worst than in the previous leaderships…money is being kept for the 2010 elections. Who are greatly affected of his “Oh Promise Me” attitude? Of course who else? but the poor dear athletes..inuto at niloko niya ang mga atleta sa mga huge incentives which alam ko na naman na hindi mangyayari. He does his own strategies that are out of this world. He is a liar and very treacherous. If only our TATAP officials are keen and are really there to protect our national pingpong players, they should have studied the best legal protection they could do for all of them. I am always stating facts in all my posts here at hindi ito kathang isip o hearsays lang.Im happy that our TT community are active and brave now to come out and say whatever they want to say…no holds bar ika nga…
Non funding of athletes happens not only in table tennis, but in other NSA’s too, kaso matitinik ang mga namumuno nila kaya nagagawan ng hakbang at paraan. I can sense that Col. Binag is already awake now and notices the mishandling of his NSA by VP Ortalla. Its never too late anyway…but for how long will he be able to guard it and sustain? I don’t know…You don’t know… We both don’t know unless he will have all the time to stay put in TATAP to oversee the whole operation. Cleaning up the whole TATAP is a must for our sport to progress and flourish…We need people with an honest intention only for the good of our TT community and above par integrity to man our NSA – this is the only option, nothing more…
Communication is one of the most effective tools for our TT community to stay and be informed. Are we getting it now from our current TATAP leaders? This is the key to a better community – information dissemination in other words para walang naghahaka-haka para gumawa ng kanilang version of the story. Just like now, Mr. diotay doesn’t know the line up of the players going to SEAG kasi walang bulletin ang TATAP officials regarding this.
Does anyone knows? Based on statistics wala pang napapatunayan itong taong ito…sana may natotohan sa dalawang imported coaches, but as I see it mukhang wala.. Do you have your written game plan for your players for SEAG? baka mangyari na namn uli yong ginawa mo noong 2005 SEAG? Bingi,Pipi at walang pakiramdam ang inasal mo noon as in wala ka lang pakialam sa nangyari kay Richard Gonzales sa Finals. He could have won that match as he was ahead na by points. You failed to call for a time out to halt the momentum of his opponent. Everyone in the crowd was shouting to stop the play and call for a break but you were deeply deaf to hear us out. How stupid that coaching of yours. As if you were hypnotized or shall I say you ran out of strategies and didn’t know what to do anymore. If it was coach Gigi Aguinalde, it could have been different for sure. I know coach Aguinalde to be a tough, intelligent, and focused coach. Sa bagay it will not happen again in this Laos SEAG kasi I’m 200 & 1% sure hindi makakaabot ang players natin sa finals..no one is prepared for SEAG…nobody wants to argue with me on this…its too late to prepare now, we can only wish them “GOODLUCK and DO YOUR BEST”
@masusan
—
Pinapahanga mo ako, alam mo ang past at present sa PSC, POC at TATAP. Magkakilala ba tayo in person?
Baka pwede pong magbago anytime just like what happen last wttc,as i know im one of the representative right now but who knows diba?
I just keep on practicing for the love of sport and hoping can contribute something to our fellow pilipinos ping pong community.
@masusan,pinahanga mo rin ako.
Harry, I don’t know if we were introduced formally before, I don’t remember.. maybe nagkita na tayo sa mga TT tournaments or seminars? Will you be attending the Hua Ching TT Invitational come Nov. 7-8 in Mandaue City? Baka makadaan ako from Davao, Lets meet up…
Kakosa. thanks for the compliment, Rest assured that I will continue to be the eyes and ears of our sport until Change is achieved. On the other hand, I want our TT community to know and be aware of what is really happening so they can do their fair share to help and perhaps contribute in the rebuilding of Philippine Table Tennis.
By the way Kakosa, good luck at SEAG, stay focused and determined whatever it takes. You are one of the strongest TT players in our country even in those days, kayanin mo lang yoong pressures and stress of the tournament, by doing so you are already a winner in your own right.
To our TATAP officials, There is still so much time to look for funding/Godfathers for our national team going to Laos…Come on! give them the needed inspiration to perform well at SEAG.
Kakosa/masusan,
Someone txt me the qualifiers for Laos. Mens team – Valle, Ting, Richard and womens team – Yanyan, Chrisma, and Hennezy. I like the men’s team as you have a handshake grip, penholder and pimples player. A carefully analyzed sequence of players in the team event will give us a slight advantage.
One thing I noticed, POC added 90+ players with 80+ officials. The proportion indicate that there are a lot of free loaders (officials, friends, etc. that has nothing to do with the players).
Kakosa, you might be correct that there might be some changes before the final list comes up. If ever that happens, then TATAP will further erode its credibility and people will believe that it is still whom you know and not your talents that count.
Tama po kayo sa iyong personal assessment mr. diotay re Philippine officials along with their friends and families..mga extra baggage ika nga…The ratio of athletes vis a vis the officials going to SEAG amazes me and pisses me off but didn’t surprise me at all not even a bit. This has been the practice since time immemorial as in “already a tradition” so to speak. Believe me TT community, these officials are the ones giving stress and pressures to our athletes? In the 4 SEAG that I went to, naawa ako sa mga atleta natin, While our athletes are billeted in athletes’ villages with poor sleeping conditions, our officials stay in the comforts of 5 star hotels…. While our poor athletes ride in buses where they have to wait for extra minutes to be picked up as sometimes they share with other countries, our officials have personal luxury cars with chauffeurs at their own mercy. What is worst pa,these officials are never seen on the different venues where our own athletes fight to their teeth against our SEAN counterparts to cheer for all of them man lang, kasi busy sa kakashopping at city tour…
Well, if there will be changes in the composition of the TT national team to SEAG without justifications ang without merits, aba! ibang usapan na iyan, ABANGAN!!!
hello to everyone, iv just notice all the comments here.. it’s very interesting all people here are good in commenting.. iv read someone saying about the qualifications..right, it is important to have skills in that particular sport, but there are lot of good players that can’t coach or teach..i think IMHO we should not look only for the qualifications, but also if he has the patience and good attitude to run for being a coach. we should not judge them base on how good he is in the game, it is also need some discipline. each individuals have their own strengths and weaknesses. in other words, we don’t see what other see.. some can teach and others don’t.
i just wonder how this masusan know a lot of things.. is he a part of RP team or he just heard it.. coz as he comment.. as if he knows everything.. i know everyone is concern about table tennis.. but may i ask for some people, do you already made a contribution or are you just good at talking. why don’t we help these players and just stop talking. just support these players instead of discouraging them.
@nine lives
@NINE LIVES; HI there! looks like you’re NEW here…welcome!
with regards to what you have commented to Mr MASUSAN, it seems that you have a very different view with to his POSTs and it is very HEALTHY for us all.. cause for sure it will keep the FIRE of discussion really BURNING!
@ SIR MASUSAN, I have high regards with you sir. NOT only because you have GOOD COMMAND in ENGLISH and PROPER GRAMMAR, but also because you have discussed ISSUES indeptly. I am not fond of BLOGS, or “posting comments” but because of Sir MASUSAN’s post and so are others’ inspired me to TALK and PARTICIPATE in this TRUE, FACTUAL, PROVEN with BASIS CONCERNS of all the CONCERNED TATAP MEMBERS.
And mind you, NINE LIVES, these ISSUES are LONG OVERDUE! THESE are not just MERE COMMENTS, but the SHOCKING TRUTH! Does TRUTH hurts NINE LIVES?! tinamaan ka ba ng mga comments ni Sir MASUSAN and these pushed you to give your OWN COMMENTS?!
I believe, this is the only very active TT forum that we openly discuss about pingpong events and issues locally.
and you are very welcome here!
nine lives, whoever you are I just pity you. I didn’t know you have “flight of ideas” syndrome, but at any rate, I still respect your remote opinion. Let me just remind you that the mind is like a parachute, it works best when it is open. Are you the coach? you sounds like….or TATAP boy?
Again, coaching is not a joke nine lives…you should know planning and strategy. These are the two basic components to be an effective coach. Planning is about projecting and laying out an agenda for what you want to happen. Strategy on the other hand, is having a clear vision of how you will actually operate; that is keeping a wide focus in the game in case things change while never losing sight of your goal. What happened in the 2005 SEAG re Richard Gonzales’ match against Indonesia in the finals, is a concrete example of his coach’ lack of planning and strategy. Strategy permits you to be aware of events you may have never thought of when you set your original plan. It allows you to be FLEXIBLE and INNOVATIVE. Coach H. Ortalla struggled that time and failed to take action to save Richard. The whole crowd saw it, siya lang ang hindi nakakita sa mali niya? He should at that time supported his strategy by constantly observing and interpreting results of the game or the match to see if changes in Richard’s play were necessary – which during that time was necessary and urgent.
How dare you say that…The role of a coach is “everything” to every athlete, to every player, and to every individual. A great football coach Vince Lombardi once said. “Just because you’re doing something wrong – doing it more intensely isn’t going to help” There is a message in those words for all of us. What he meant, of course, is that you can practice until you’re exhausted, even blue in the face. You can sweat day after day, month after month, year after year, but if you’re not doing something correctly to begin with, its not going to make much difference. It is just exacerbating the problem and reinforcing your weaknesses. I think there is more to it than that. I have come to believe that even if you’re doing something right, doing more of it isn’t necessarily going to help either. More practice increased effort, and longer hours aren’t always the answer. Effort helps, for sure as does talent but it can take you only so far. In other words, an athlete needs a qualified coach, a conglomeration of talent, education, toughness, focus and above all good ATTITUDE.
A big “YES” nine lives, i have been helping TT in my own little way but as what Butch said, we don’t need to announce it to the whole world..what about you? what have you contributed to the sport and to the TT community? Soon… you will know what I’m talking about…
new gym, I’m impressed with your ideas too. Ang galing mo mag analyze. You are a good writer no doubt.
@ nine lives, I would like to thank you for you post, cause as what I’ve said, you have fueled the discussions here.
I LOVE table tennis, It keeps me fit and feel younger. But for a while, I lost the zest of playing perhaps due to my disgust of wrong doings of our TATAP community leaders. And I empathize the situation of our current TT RP TEAM. And YES, NINE LIVES, you are right, the RP TT TEAM needs motivation! MOTIVATION in every aspects…Unfortunately, RP TT TEAM is own their own in terms of support, supply etc and even CONCRETE training progam. thanks to the “EFFICIENT” coach of TATAP.
NINE LIVES, DISCIPLINE is just a PART of training and coaching.
And Sir MASUSAN was right that extending of practice hours w/o proper program might just exhaust our RP TT TEAM. Perhaps, CREDIBILITY, aside from efficiency, skills, RIGHT ATTITUDE, POSITIVE Personality and w/TRUE CONCERNS to our players are the QUALIFICATIONS we are needing for a COACH.
@Sir MASUSAN, thank you sir for the compliments. You, together with our other kaPONGERS, sharing you different prospectives to different issues was a great help of enlightening not only my own propectices but also awakened the true way of LOVING TABLE TENNIS!
It may be CORNY, but if we treat our TATAP community as one of our LOVEONES, we will continously nurture, be vigilant& protect it from mischievous enemies like one of our family members. And because of these mature discussions in this SITE TATAPX gives PRIVE to be PONGER!

i’d rather say my sentiments here kesa maging kunsintidor sa ginagawa ng ibang tao sa TATAP. nakikita mong mali ginagawa nila tatahimik ka na lang? di ba sabi pa nga ng james, “if you know what is good and do not do it, it is sin.” ?? you are asking about yung pinopost dito and its common that people would always equate with commenting and if may nagawa ka sa sport na to. yung may mga ginawa lang ba ang may karapatan magpost dito? so are you saying na, if yung ibang tao rito walang nagawa sa table tennis hindi na lang kami magko-comment? and yes may nagawa karamihan sa amin dito ayaw lang namin ipangalandakan!
basing on the criteria that you posted about the qualifications of a coach, yung current coach ba merong lahat nung sinabi mo?
Official website for 25th SEA Games:
http://www.laoseagames2009.com/v1/table-tennis.asp
ano tong narinig ko na may isang official ng TATAP na sasama sa seagames at sya daw magcocoach????????? yung taong to wla daw tong karapatan mag coach kasi wala namang alam to sa coaching ng national team members, please confirm if totoo ito mga kapatid???
I heard it too yogi_bear, If POC will not be vigilant enough or will not scrutinize TATAP submitted line up, for sure this isn’t a remote possibility. If this happens, we can question this. Is he currently a TATAP official? What’s his position? Is he back to his usual modus operandi?
@yogi: kahit TATAP pala, “Nothing is FREE nowadays” ..bwaha..ha..ha..
Mabuti pa ang University of Cebu, me mga bagong sapatos at goma mga players nila given by the school! kaya siguro mataas ang moral ni Dan Tormis…

walang” hyporcrite ” sana- yung tutuo sa damdamin ilabas nyo ha – and said in a nice way. thanks
pete
Somehow there is truth with regards to the old/recycled tenergy rubbers used by Valle but the reason for which is that he is saving his new Tenergy and Extend Rubbers for the upcoming LAOS Seagames. But he did not wait till December, I think he used his new rubbers 1-2 weeks before the Hua Ching Tournament.
Bakit? bakit? bakit MISSING IN ACTION naman sya? Hmmm…CHOOSE Your…?!?
a) Camera Shy sya at ayaw nya sa LimeLight?
TIBAY talaga!
BATO BATO SA LANGIT, ANG MATAMAAN AY…SYA YUN!?!
hahaha… harry, yung EJ sickness is uncurable yun, common sa pingpong adik yang sakit na yan. hahaha…
uuuyyyyyyy!!! ayus to! anong klaseng goma at sapatos pinamigay butch?
what do you expect ryanp
i would presume———— No !
sorry uli na banggit lang kasi yung tinatawag na : wise spending or may kalokohan ginagawa and at the end leave the players – POOR !
eh pingpong ngayon magastos na , its already an “elite “sport or at least papunta na dun. !!! kaya uli should we put money or not at least to sustain a bit?
how i wish we could discuss these things more…..
pete
yung gamit daw nila ayaw daw i-release kasi baka hindi daw sila sumama sa LAOS SEAGAMES?? totoo ba to PSC???? hala
am back ! teka amoy amoy lang. Hmmmmm mukhang may mabahong umaamoy dito huh
@pete
Pambihira, basketball shoes and shirt?
@ryanp
Over in Danao City, we worked out a system. The city bought eight paddles for the elementary team. Expensive paddles and rubber. When our own rubber ages we put it on a cheap blade, because even though the rubber may not be good for tournament, it is still good for training. Chinese rubber is still Sticky after 3 years. Then the kids all have rubber to train with. We keep all the blades in a box that the kids can use when they come to train. We start the kids now in grade two with proper techniques in the beginning. The biggest problem was learning bad techniques in the beginning and then trying to correct it later. We have eight tables now in the elementary school. By the time they get to grade six, we should have a complete team of superstars. It’s a great system and I would like to try it in another part of the country so that our Cebu team would have a rival in the upper level tournaments.
Requirements would be an elementary school teacher that is dedicated to the sport. So dedicated that they would be willing to train second graders everyday after school. Other great players that play in the town. and a room in an elementary school big enough to house a bunch of tables.
Cool, please keep us on the loop of any activities you have.
Added Training Centers page.
If I were the coach, bakit pang basketball uniforms e-request ko? or mga basketball player mga coach nyo noon? LOL.
@Markos: You need to shell out money for a trainor and not a school teacher to train 2nd graders. For me, it took only a year to 2 for a trainer to teach the kid and excel… compare sa isang school teacher na walang alam sa pingpong, baka umabot nang grade six ang bata ay nde alam ang loop at brushing nang bola!
Butch, are you the one at the Milo tournament that has the Mindanao elementary? I think I recognize you from a picture. No actually, our school teacher is a very good ping pong player. He teaches them powerloop. All I do is make sure they are getting trained the correct physics. I train them too, but it could get very boring if your just training second and third grade. For third grade, I add some crazy spins so they can work on their footwork. They are already good at powerloop. I know there has to be more teachers that teach ping pong. There is one in the mountains of Cebu. He does a great job up there, but he’s too close to us. We will meet him too early in tournaments. We have no players in grade 4 & 5. But that will be fixed in a couple years. We started our #1 elementary player in grade four. He won Milo gold two years in a row. But starting grade two is the key to taking ping pong away from the Chinese. Just a distant dream of mine. We already have a lefty in grade 2 that has an exceptional powerloop. Already can see he is headed as another wonderboy.
@Markos, Nope. Iligan elem. boys team and Bukidnon elem. girls team represent Mindanao. Ako yung kumukuha nang pictures.
My boy and his cousins started to play pingpong when he was in grade 4 (summertime) I know how to play pingpong at mga uncles nya ay former TT varsities dito sa Cebu. Still I hired coach Raffy San Juan’s expertise for the kids’ correct basics. Grade 5 nag CViRAA champion kid ko at na defend nya the year after–a feat na mahirapan ang Mandaue City to have that again. Team No. 5) last Huaching tourney. For me, ibat-ibang coach ang hahawak sa mga bata ay mas OK, they have all the options what style and technique they will apply during their games. He is 16 years old now and still learning backhand techniques at Huaching.
The best thing for a kid to learn fast is to watch (CD or DVD) games by world class caliber pongers.
this is just of “one the simple signs” na matutuloy ang table tennis for that event.
passports etc. symepre mas ma importante pa yan .
xxxxxxx
kapag umulap ng madilim meaning baka aambon
kung sunny day meaning malayo pa ang pag ulan.
as a metaphore
xxxxxxxxxx
or at least tinanong na sila , pre – ano ka ———-small medium or large lang man ang shirt or sapatos mo. ?
tinanong ko ang ilang bound for laos players
wala pa daw !!! naku !!!!!
xxxxxxxxxxx
eh unfortunately, we dont have a “talking tatap” lang man representatvie dito or psc or poc representative to confirm things.
so cge hulaan pa natin matututuloy ba sila or hindi may budget or wala? parang bulagaan nalang ata ito.
craming ba?
kawawa talaga table tennis natin as time ticks on
pete

Ilan ang mga oficials???
ano tong kalokohan narinig ko na si dante boquirin daw ang magiging coach ng rp team sa laos?????? kung totoo ito what in the world is happening at hinahayaan ito!!???
Baka biro lang yan.
harry, mas pipiliin ko pang mali ako about that info at biro lang yan kesa naman sa totoo yan. pag totoo yan God have mercy on the RP Team!!!
I hope biro lang yan o maling info.
@venus-sriver
@newgym
@Venus
IMHO. Same system sa mga LGUs aside from 15/30 personnel. LOL.
Hi ! TT community, I’m back after a very important travel… I heard about this issue before. Why don’t we ask coach Palermo to shed light on this matter. He is the only person who can tell us the truth nothing but the truth. I don’t want to speculate ,but you know folks, if there is smoke definitely there is fire. If this is indeed true, why is Col. Binag not taking any action on this unbecoming deed of his own people. This is a very grave accusation but I’m positive there is truth to this rumor. OMG! I can smell something fishy…. Manmanan natin ito….
Any news from Bong?
@yogi: baka nag “evaporate”?
Vietnam 3 – 0 Philippines
In case the link link above is not available, view it in PDF here…
Oh man, Philippine table tennis team should go home now.
harry pls. shed light to this. ! – sino ba yun at bow down sa isang pilpino ?
im sure may “ma- alergic “sa unique stroke /palo ni richard gonzales someway. ayan nakasilat
nanaman!!!
di alam ng marami – maraming na “aalergic” sa unique style ni richard gonzales abroad at sya lang ang pinapalakpakan./hinahangaan kwento ting ledesma (kakosa) way back pa.

pete
panalo or talo sila, dapat ibigay yung allowances nila!
Binigay naman.
From the official site:

http://laosoc.laoseagames2009.com/RS2009/bm/tt/result_team_lg.aspx?eid=2304&mid=512
mixed doubles….

sana bukas sa singles manalo…
Oh My… Look at the scores??? I believe service at 3rd ball lang ang laro nila against Singapore except for R. Gonzales.
I hate to see all the scores, really bad
so far for today first round singles matches — valle 1 win 3 loss gonzales 1 win 1 loss
the women lost all i think…baka rin may na miss akong list…
naka pdf ang scoresheets bagal mag load….

pete

HALOS ALL SARILING SIKAP/ EXPENSE ITO HA.
i think they are trying to prove something to psc.
pete
Congrats to Richard Gonzales for that Bronze medal. You again saved the sinking Table Tennis Association of the Philippines. I just hope that the bronze medal you won will not be use again by our TATAP Leaders in their bid to keep them afloat at the watchful eyes of Angping’s PSC. And sana the current TATAP Admin or the national coach will not use their so-called “training program” or the hiring of two chinese imports as credits for such feat. There is no training program to speak of and the chinese imports are not really coaches per se. If there is one person who deserve all the credit for that bronze, he is none other than Richard Gonzales himself.
http://laosoc.laoseagames2009.com/RS2009/bm/cm/MedalsAudit_Sports.aspx?dt=2009-12-15&SID=23
grandmaster, although we have our differences i have to agree with you on this one. i think sa case ni richard dahil yan sa talent at skill nya naipanalo nya ang laro nya kahit bronze. magagaling yung taga singapore na nakalaban nya at hindi allergic sa LP nya except sa tinalo nya. if gagamitin itong excuse ng TATAP para ma cover up yung kapalpakan nila then shame on them
go richard gonzales…. kuhaa gyud ang gold!
tol vader, natalo sya sa semi finals so bronze sya
@masusan and Yogibear,
The money was divided into 6,so 50,000kip kada player.
we are making pledges na in cash incentives this morning. if he reaches silver to gold.
naka commit na kami
i know parang papasok ka sa butas ng karayom – in times like this.
my point is – you got to be “unique palo ” para maka pasok ka
and thats what usually happened to richard and what this guy is made out of.
otherwise , why always richard ? ———there is something in richard
talagang ” tug of war “- agawan na sila !!! and cant afford to make mistake .
kung di ka talagang magaling “bumomba” kay richard, you stand no chance.
how i wish i can watch paano na “alergic” and usually make mistakes mga kalaban nila kay richard , after several rallies.
pete
sir ting, kahit mga 1600 pesos lang yun pero galing yun sa mga taong sinusuporta kayo at salamat dahil hindi kayo nainsulto gano man yun kaliit di tulad ng iba rito. siguro if may training program alng ang RP team at nagsimula ang selection for Rp team as early as february mas malayo siguro ang mararating nyo sir ting. we never blame the players, we support them but we are angry on what the system is not doing para sa inyo.
more power to you and the others sir ting
I have seen Richard’s performances on Huaching tourneys since 2005. Malaki ang improvement nya this year lalo na ang forehand at pwede pang ma-improve kagaya ke Joo See Yuk.
Politics is really killing us.
FYI to Masusan and to TT com:
Gigi Agunalde and TATAP have partnered together to raise up the TT in the country, which i personally support and like, what do you think Masusan and TT community? and I also heard and correct me if im wrong I think Gigi is endorsing Yogi bear (never meet him yet, but im a great fan of his deed) as a deputy Sec Gen of TATAP (free of salary or allowance).
With this move from TATAP and GIgi just showed us that we all care about TT in our country and all they want is the best for all of us.
Hope its at start of a new beginning for TT in our country.
@Masusan: Wow ha binati pa ! after all the trash talking and bitching….Teka muna sino ba si Masusan ? okay okay, si masusan is da ate of da kots na pina pasok na sa pinto ng TATAP. None other than Gigi Aguinalde. Hello Ate ! Now that you completed your task what is next ? Mission acomplish na ba ? Teka Teka wala pang suweldo huwag ka munang tumahimik dyan.
It feels GOOD na cease fire na ang personal differences ng mga ka pongers ko.. I hope that this will be a sign that we are all back on the right track and common goal…
Good news yan for 2010.
@newgym
Tulad ng?
Bakit shutdown ang PHILTT community for one week na? TATAP.ph should have a forum or shoutbox para alam din nila ano ang mga concerns galing probinsya.
@butch:
More than a week na ka butch, baka busy pa ang driver
Himayin natin ngayon
