Acknowledgment to the ATTY Nepomuceno and the “team of Malabon”
Dear “liha” friends from Malabon!
On behalf of my own and on behalf of Dr. Gordana Furjan-Mandic as well as Dr.
Nicolae Ochiana, I would like to express my deepest thanks for your very warm
welcome and kindness during our stay at your club. As Peter invited us to visit
Philippines and made us acquainted with the game named “Liha”, we had no clue
what that means in real world. All the three of us had in mind that this is similar to the
table tennis game but only with the old roots. What a mistake! Although we are all
scientists and I am supposed to be an expert in table tennis, I felt like a firstyear
student in the college. Before our trip Peter gave me some information regarding
“Liha”, but it is always something different when you read about or when you see it
live.
The game has caught my attention already in Yokohama at the 11th ITTF Sports
Science Congress, where Peter Cua and Oscar Santelices talked about that game
with such a passion. Their performance and presentation of the game was also the
main reason for Gordana, Nicolae and me for accepting their invitation to visit the
Philippines. And it was the right decision. Even though Mother Nature wanted to stop
our visit, like the typhoon news, we are glad that we could make the journey.
First of all we have to thank Peter, because he brought us to idea to visit his country.
Without him we wouldn’t have met such wonderful people like you are – dedicated to
the vintage game “Liha”. We admired your outstanding genuine Filipino hospitality
and friendliness you showed us, including your skills in playing this game. We
appreciate your efforts very much and think that nothing can compare to such
friendship.
We do think that we became very rich persons by gaining such good friends we think
that we have become now millionaires with the friendship with you. It doesn’t matter
that we are ITTF representatives, and prominent members of universities in Europe,
but it matters that we are your friends now. We hope that soon we will meet again
and share those wonderful memories about our first trip to Philippines.
We are proud that we can say, that we have wonderful friends in Manila and we will
recommend everyone who is going for table tennis tourism to Philippines, to visit you
club and to see how this game being played by true experts.
Once again thanks to the “Liha” team of Malabon City, atty Nepomuceno, Ging and
her niece, to the best cook and all the members of the club who made a perfect tour
thru the table tennis “Liha” Exhibition game at Hulong Duhat. And at the end of this
letter best regards from the sunny side of the Alps and I hope that some day we will
meet again in our/your part of the world!
We will be in touch and we will see how in the long run, we can help you or at least
spread the word so we wish you all the best and a great success with promoting and
“preserving” this vintage game called: LIHA.
Your friends,
Miran, Gordana & Nicolae

pagdating namin dun. walang guest, natakot sa news , kawawa ang mga hotel dun
