2nd METTA Cup National Open table netfest kicks-off in April
THE Metropolitan Table Tennis Association (METTA) is set to organize the 2nd METTA Table Tennis National Invitational Cup on April 22 to 25 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
The tournament supported by Annona Corporation, Mae Gas Refilling Plant & Marketing, Sonia Trading (www.soniatrading.com.ph) and Topcoms Marketing/Star Sports Korea (www.topph.com) will have 14 events to be played including singles and team events in the men, women, girls and boys events.
METTA President Ting Ledesma, a member of the RP table tennis team, said he is expecting the second edition of the event supported by Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Harry Angping is more competitive than last year because of many entries.
“We are very thankful to Chairman Angping for throwing an all-out support to our event for providing us a proper venue,” said Ledesma, who is expecting at least 500 participants all over the country will join the annual tournament.
Ledesma said the four-day event is aiming to develop table tennis because METTA believes the country has a chance to become successful in this sport in years to come.
Reigning women’s champion Sendrina Balatbat is expected to defend her women’s open singles title and somebody is expected to follow the footstep of last year’s men’s open single champion Chinese Liu Quan this year.
The Table Tennis Association of North District (TATAND) and Andro are eyeing to retain the men’s and women’s team event crown, respectively, in the event sanctioned by the Table Tennis Association of the Philippines (TATAP).

why didnt you sound the good news! ting! naku.
tutuo nga dumating ang indonesian team
halos 20 plus sila katao
from young to old.
manuuod kayo!
pete
I think the credit of inviting Indonesian players to grace the METTA Cup goes to Bill Yap. Majority of the top Indonesian players personally know Bill Yap since Bill oftentimes visit their country. In fact, seldom can you find a Hua Ching Tournament without any Indonesian imports.
Just my observation.
yes perhaps so
.
— liha/kahoy
pete
Credit also goes to Ting.
Bukas daw ay maglalaban sila ulit pero this time plain wood vs plain wood.
I guess lamang pa rin si Richard kasi all around ang kanyang laro. Me depensa at offense.
ang biro eh, kami fili – chi sila IN – chi ahahahahahah ang pagkaiba mayaman sila . big chinese businessman at the back bone of their table tennis organization
xxxxxxxxxx
okay tignan lang natin kung ano magawa ng so called hi t-ech goma just betwen our neighboring south east asian countries.
kapag lumabas ang resulta dun natin makita.
later , i wish to prove ,———suggest something.
xxxxxxxx
. dahil nagpakilala ako at kinuento ko,. dahil nga nakita ko hawak nya kahoy at sya na daw ang nahuli huling ” kahoy-dor ” sa kanila and they have never seen liha bat before daw. this proves my research na ang amerikano nga ang nag dala dito sa atin dahil we are under american rule . other south east asian counties are not under american regime. thats why they dont know what a liha /sandpaper bat is.
anyway, hinamon si richard gonzales after knowing somebody is holding some primitive weapon at kumagat sila ?, is like nagpasuntok sya sa pinoy boxer pacman at naghukay nga sariling libingan. ahahahah Di nila kilala pa ang pinoy pag dating sa ” low tech ” pingppong like liha. eh maraming pera ata din itong dayuhan na ito—bali wala matalo im sure. ahahah
pete
Bilib ako sa METTA Cup organizer, first time na sumali lahat nang founders nang Huaching Foundation of Mandaue City. Goodluck, sa mga competitors! For me, Indonesian players will reign the tournament…he.he..he..
I passed by kanina and I was astounded by the number of tables. 1st day of the tournament, I was told that there are 12 tables. Naging 8 tables nalang during Day 2.
Here is my partial review and observations:
1. The scheduling is above average. Players are aware of their respective schedules and need not worry about waiting since they need not have to wait all day hoping that their names will be called. If your scheduled match is at 5:30pm, expect that it will be at 5:30pm.
2. Indonesian visitors are friendly and I see no animosity between players in or outside the table. From the looks of their faces, it seems that they are enjoying their stay here in the Philippines.
3. The venue is pretty fair since it is air conditioned. Sad to say, there are only few spectators in table tennis. Most of the audience are players, if not, relatives of the participants.
4. The prizes are not just prizes. Surely, it cannot be considered as “baka” prizes just like the just concluded tournanent a week or two ago. The registration fee you paid compensates the prizes the organizers offers to its participants. They also have raffles to everyone’s delight.
5. The sad thing is that, the Indonesian players are mighty forces in the METTA Cup. They have David and Yon plus two young players playing in the 15 under category. As for our players, we could only rely to our old man, Richard Gonzales. Indonesian players are inspired to give out their best because they are well fed, well groomed and well taken by their rich chinese benefactor. As for our players, I havent seen Joseph Cruz or perhaps the National Coach. As for Richard, it seems to me that he has not practice these days. After inquiry of his not so good performance in the elimination rounds (he almost lost to Nico Cruz, 3-2), he is busy earning extra income (table tennis clinics) since there is no allowance from the PSC. He reasoned out that why would he practice everyday at Crame and spent his last remaining centavo when he is not earning any and has a family to feed.
Poor Richard, he was constrained to participate in the METTA Cup because of the General’s Orders. General gave him Bryce and Greenpaddle for his long pips since he went there without any rubbers. I think, his presence is badly needed by TATAPnp so that the Indonesian players will have a worthy opponent to play against.
Nice review out there Grandma. Kudos to METTA organizers, they are doing their best.
Day 4 Review:
1. Since the scheduling is well organized, then it is highly expected that they will finished the whole matches as scheduled. I’m glad they did.
2. As expected, the mighty Indonesian players captured the Men’s Open (1st and 2nd), 12 Under, 15 under and 17 under Category. LOPTTA bagged the Men’s Team Title followed by Metta and Team Indonesia A and B for the bronze. Nestor Ferre, Lauro Crisostomo and Johanne Remaneses saved the day by capturing the 50 above, 40 above and Men’s Non Rank Crown respectively.
3. The closing ceremony started at 2:30pm and the organizers had to delay it obviously since they are waiting for Harry Angping’s arrival which was scheduled at 4pm. They should have inserted the drawing of raffles so that the players will not get bored. The delaying tactics was quite obvious.
4. The HIGHLIGHT of the day……………….?
…..Most will suggest the Best Actor Speech of Diego but I beg to disagree……
The highlight of the day or the whole Tournament is when David Jacobs’ (Indonesian player) bag has been missing. Later, it was found inside the Men’s CR to the delight of the Indonesian delagates. But surprise!!!! – David’s wallet and cellphone were no longer inside his Bag!
Kudos to the Filipino (I bet he is a player) who brought GLORY to himself but he MALIGN the reputation not just of the organizers but to the whole Filipinos by making an impression that we are a country of thieves! Congratulations!
@grandmaster
Thanks again for the updates. Almost perfect but METTA failed here, it was their responsibility to protect our visitors and to remind players not to leave their belongings unattended because this was happening before. We never learn.
There should be more but here are the incidents that I knew.
- Nittaku All Star: Waldner racket, stolen from his team bench
- Nittaku All Star: Saive uniform went missing when he hanged it in surrounds after his match.
- National Open: Peter (onse), forgot his family name. Lost his bag with camera and lenses.
- National Open: Thibar net/post assembly was stolen
- 2008 UAAP: score board went missing after the tournament, the bad guy is still connected with TATAP, huh!
- UP chancellor’s cup: Rogerson Ermita went to CR, his BTY Ishilon was stolen
Any other idea how to prevent this from happening?
so lesson learn na . ? naku nakakahiya talaga. youve have warm me before sometimes harry , sabi mo mga butterfly shirt ata pinag susungkit sunkit ng mga tao. i vividly remember you are telling me. i forgot to warn ting naku . pagmumukha ito ng bawat pilipino. buti di nangyari ito kina miran ito of slovenia nung pumasyal sila dito sa atin. kung sa bagay ,nakaututk naman ako sa kanila
pete
alam nyo kung alam ko lang may foeighn team na ganyan ka dami participants.———i should have been told.
then i will suggest na i contact ko mga “promdi” na kakatapos lang ng palarong pambansa sa tarlac na hwag sila umuwi sa kanilang respective probinsya dahil may metta cup at para maka tikim sila ng paglalaro with foreighner. maraming team sanang sumali pa eh ilang araw lang pamamagitan. there is the palawan team there is the iligan team , cebu and there is the mindoro team at iba iba pa. but the preparation should be at least 1 month dahil hanap pa budget sa local govt nila.
ang tanong eh? — bakit di gin announce sa prospectus nila na may dayong ganyan? mga ganyan klaseng balita dapat di nililihim ! ina anounce pa nga as an attractive ‘add on’ !!!!
next time , kung maaga lang ang preparasyon and i’ll be informed properly pati thailand team isama na natin dito. ,dami junior dun. at lage pinagmamalaki sa akin dun na malakas sila ngayon – makita nga uli !
xxxxxxxxxxxx
i think yung foreign player na hawak eh kahoy lang si mr. salim -ang kaya lang natin bugbugin ng todo todo , tuhog sa leeg! biktima ahahah —— as i suspected.ahahah , tama ang kutob ko.
therefore may i suggest to ting na liha /kahoy isama na next time. para kung ano ang pagkatalo natin sa goma , sa liha kahoy babawi naman tayo sa kanila . yung low tech , low tech nalang. ahahahahah eh galing sa eruope sila eh ,hi tech – sanay na sila . in high tech we learn for them but in low tech they learn from us. ! aba ! Bachelor of “liha” arts of the world dito——– ahahahah
Maraming salamat pete sa mga advice tungkol sa liason officer,i will take note about that.
We metta welcome everyone to comment our humble 2nd metta cup,we want to know how to improve more for the betterment of our sport.
thank you so much sa mga sumali ulit at sana hindi po kayo magsawa sa kakasupporta sa ating sport na table tennis…
ang pagka balita ko eh
passport di daw kinuha , wallet lang among others
buti nalang may konting konsensya pa -natira ang thief or thieves
otherwise eh di hassel nanaman sa paguwi nya on time , at dobol trobol sa pagayos ng travel papeles nya naku lumaki pa issue. eh national player yan wag ma dyario dun or wat!
i knew it – mahirap maging organizer , i sympathise with you ting ! more so you wanted it bigger!
sarap buhay – player lang as i always always say. kaya lang walang nga kikilos or malasakit ng katulad ng nagawa ni ting, napilitan na rin sya maging organiser na daming problema attach at alalahanin pa. .
in a way. im sure.
okay cge imbitathin mo ang dayuhan tignan natin kung pupunta dito. kahit pa sagotin mo ang some expense . not many will come, unless maganda ang PR at charm mo. .
ano ba ranking natin sa ”table tennis world ” na really worth pursuing dito ? in goma is it more of them learning from us or rather we learning from them.
pete
Congratulation Mr. Ting Ledesma! Btw when is the rating system result to come out? I really do like to play your tournament but due to the fact that the money I paid is given back to me for no reason I would like to know what does that mean?
As a Man of honor and with word what do you want me to expect? I have given you my side and with respect to your Sport director that my word as I’ve have promised to him is not taken care off. It is the duty of your official to come forward and talk to me rather than shout as if I would not pay the said money in front of many people that taint my name.
I have openly write this here for I a man of integrity, Honor and respect would like to know what is in his mind to do such a thing. Knowing we talk Man to Man with regards to what I’ve requested and promised and he accept. He even told me to keep this a secret.
I cannot prevent rumors to come out with negative effect and this is the best way to know what really happen and answer if there’s a lie with what I’ve stated.
Ernesto Arroyo Ebuen Jr.
@Pete / @kakosa
For the safety of our visitors, it may be better to have an area dedicated to them. Off limits sa mga Filipino except organizer siguro.
@Boyang,
With due respect, when did you pay the entry fee?
In my honest opinion People should just be grateful enough that there are still people like Ting Ledesma (kakosa) that is spending Money, Time and effort on its own expense just to try and satisfy the table tennis community in our country. Instead of looking for faults why not thank the organizers and be grateful enough to point out the good things they just did.As to pete cua’s comments and suggestions I find it negative for you are more on stressing out negative points from the event, people like you are going to be successful in scaring organizers from conducting further decent tournaments. I really think you should refrain from doing that, well who gives you the right to comment anyways. For me you have done less for the majority of local players for your only focus is in your liha escapades, dont know how are we going to benefit from it. Bottom line, If it’s not your line just keep it to yourself, how could you correct an organizer since you are not an organizer yourself (let us know our place).
With regards to the stolen items, I really think that the organizers are not to blame for it, since its something personal, personal things should be taken cared of personally. It is insane to provide extra people for the foreigners just to take care of there personal belongings considering the extra cash it will cost the organizer. In my opinion foreigner or not all should be treated equally, If you can not afford to provide for all better not to provide to some at all. As to boyang’s case tsk tsk man of honor you say? if you are really what you say then you should have honored the organizers rules in the first place, It clearly states that no pay then no play, deadlines have been set and you did not follow ( I assume you did not since you were asked to pay on tournament day ). When do we filipinos start to realize that we need discipline and learn to follow the rules? Mistakes are made, learn to move on and be grateful to the organizers of the METTA Cup and hope that they will not get discourage from this ungrateful act of these fault finding people.
Congatulations to the METTA Cup organizers for a job well done!
@young boy:
I request thru text massaging that, I like to play in three events. That I could not pay on the 8th of April because I’m out of town. And that I promised to pay on the 1st day of the tournament even if I don’t show up on the said tournament. Actually he declined first my request, so I answer back to him ‘’its okay just erase my name. No problem’’ But about a couple of minutes past he send a message that he put my name on the list and that I have to pay 650 Php on the opening day of the tournament. So he takes my word and I take his and promised not to tell anyone about this cause he wants to eradicate the habits of late payment and play no pay which is true. What I did is apologized and thanks him for what he did to me thru text.
On 1st day you know naman what happens, seeing lots of friends talking saying hi and hellos to everyone you know. Exchanging ideas, it’s like fellowship you know. In our age we just don’t go to this kind of place to win the event. We go here to win friends and show camaraderie to each and everyone. Not all table tennis.
I was having conversation with friend at the upper box when I notice this guy waving at me and gesturing to me to go to the committee’s table. So I answer back by waving to him to approach me at the upper box that he did not do. A couple of minutes again my name has been called to play at table 2. The umpire then was Alex. I told to Alex to approach the committees table and tell that after the match I’ll pay so not to disrupt the game. He never thinks of the situation and all he wants, I guess is me to pay the money for it’s the rule daw. Nakalimutan na niya yung pinag usapan naming na I’ll pay. Nakalimutan na nya yung sinasabi niyang i secret ko daw. Paano pa maging secret eh sinagawsigaw niya na bayaran ko muna yung fee bago maglaro. Hindi nakapag hintay. It’s not about money daw it’s about rule. The question here is what about our agreement? My WORD AND HIS WORD….Nakalimutan na siguro dahil sa dami ng trabaho at pagod. I forgive you okay na yan. Na settle nayan because Ting Ledesma approach me the next day and na kalimutan na ang issue but the problem is bakit kailangan isoli pa ang pera na nilaro na naman na ? I have my word and I have to hold on it. That if I don’t play still me pays. Just simple as that.
Kung mapapansin mo Young boy I never mention the guy’s name kasi okay naman na ako. I did not answer back the question of Mr. Grandmaster para close na ang issue and I never castigate the tournament kasi nagandahan naman talaga ako sa pinakita ng kaibigan nating si Mr. Ting Ledesma at very sure ako kung nanduon ka nagandahan ka rin. Hope maliwanag na po ang lahat. Medyo nag init din ang ulo ko and same with Mr. Guy. We learn our lesson…
I guess that settles the issue once and for all. It is but time to put a closure on this issue and look forward to another wonderful tournament to support since we all have the same passion in promoting our game of table tennis.
Constructive criticism is always present in a democratic society. The purpose of which is not to malign the reputation of the person/public figure/acts/events but to encourage them to improve further. Sometimes we could not prevent people from attacking another people below the belt but this could be prevented by proper moderation.
As far as improvement of the tournament is concerned, the 2nd Metta Cup is a great example on such improvement. Indeed the improvement has multiplied a thousand times as commented by Diotay during his speech.
dati up to being so called” organiser”. to pleased his indonesian friends and to please mga pongers cirlces dito.
being kapwa filchi members. im willing to help din kung need nila. yung lang naman
im sure ting finds no rift between me and him.
i admit i dont like to be an organizer na nakaupo sa mesa , i just want to just go back being player. at kung maka pag bigay pa sa karangalan sa atin bansa in some other form, i will. which i once did naman at my lifetime.being in the national team long time ago and i will do it again
pingpong in some other way becasue this liha has proven more sweaty than goma racket
.and eversince pa I discovered a pool of peculiar liha players in the philippines that can shine in the world. !!!!!
hwag sana crab mentality tayong mga player. ,we are of the same side of the wall. dapat suportahan pa kamo dahil soon soon magkaroon pa ng dagdag na category ” american hardbat “pa. kapag natuloy kami, and Philipines will shine na , na di natamo karangalan sa kakulangan ng ‘galing’ sa goma.
okay be back – this is an open forum anybody has a floor to say what they want. wag lang abusuhin
pete
sa ganda ng prizes ginugol ni ting
how about, just imagine —- dumating pa ang thailand team , as im saying of so called offered suggestion and contribution ko – di na nakakahiya di ba with such kind of prizes., may nakita pa ako motorcyle dyan , eh di naging triangular meet pa d best! i think okay na yan for international invitation . making metta cup – separate from the rest of the crowd tournament at may international flavor pa , di ba mas magandang idea yan ?
kaya ko nga tinatanong. bakit di inannouce ni ting ito way from the start pa .itong may so called indonesian team so called “dayo “. as a matter of fact, ako pa nga ang bumabalita sa first thread tungkol. dito, it should have been announce by themselves as the “selling point” why peole should join, when i suddenly was inform from others there is the indonesian team composed of such number na darating pala. at manood ,sumali kayo bihira ito kako..!!!!! i do have my good intention.!!!! so i hope maintidnihan ni ting. if this was annouce earlier im sure baka doble pa katao ang sasali , i can also contact the palarong pambansa teams dahil nga maganda makisabak ng ibang klaseng bola as “exposure” sa ibang lahi, international makipagkaibigan etc.
if the intention is just pangsarili lang for ting , kaya di ginawang highlight, , dung ako nagtataka. , well wala na akong masabi, pero kung gusto ni ting palawakin pa ito down the road. , let us say maisama pa ang thailand team for example, di ba mas okay pa ?
ting organises, sya papayag gumastos. saludo na ako dito. i think may willing lang gumastos na tao madali na lahat .machanics nalang ang natitira . at tulong tulong pa tayo lahat. parang “potluck” ito eh d way i see it. , ano meron kayo? ilabas nyo. may contact kayo ilabas din natin , maka volunteer kayo okay rin.
so there goes the so called’ international” competition na started by ting. i never heard ting talked about these things ,kahit lage rin kami nagkikita. edi sana makapagbigay pa ako nga magandang suggestions. di ako organiser per se pero sagana ako sa “ideas’ even im just an old player lang.
so its all tings decision nalang kung gaano kalaki ka” international ” he is willing to impart next year.
kasi baka election month lang ito nagkatsempo at nakita ko may halong pangangampanya party list ,so i think madali makakuha ng sponsor this year. just at the right timing, . eh next year di na election year. .
lets hear what ting has in mind, sana sabihin nya . para ang tao makapaghanda.
so again i hope im not being wrong here.
ikaw ‘young boy’. balikan kita – so you dont know what this lowly liha can help the pingpong world dito sa bansa na ito at sa ibang bansa ?. pakita ko sayo, now that you happen to mention it in a negative way.
na walang paruruunan nito kamo? steady ka lang dyan , im sure di ka gaya ko -na nagre research tungkol sa pingpong how this game came to be sa pinas.
pete
@pete: kung sasali na ang Thailand at Indonesia ay dapat mag-aral muna mga pinoy pongers “how-to-receive” sa mga serves nang “dayo” lalo na ang serves nang 13-year old Indonesian, talagang mahina tayo sa service at receiving…he..he..he.
may chance na masagupa mo lang sila
malaman nyo na ano kulang natin
at saan pagkukulang ng skill natin
kahit talo okay lang., learning thru experience lang
buti punta pa nga sila dito
kaysa tayo pa punta dun , lalong magastos lalong konti pilipino maka experience – kaya excited naman talaga ako kapag may dumayo
kaya nga gin highlight ko nung nalaman ko may dumayo
we are remote , ano ba tayo sa caliber ng buong mundo in terms of table tennis standard in general ? bakit dapat pumunta pa sila dito except maganda ang pakikisama natin sa kanila ? pasalamat na tayo kung pupunta pa sila dito. its usually us learning from them.
pete
The Indonesian themselves admitted that they have a woeful finish during the last SEA Games. They too have problems regarding their training program and the high cost of sending their players to China or importing Chinese Coaches which their Indonesian Table Tennis Federation (PTMSI) is paying a hefty $10,000.00 professional fee.
-source-
Yon and David are already considered old or veterans but these veterans far fared better than our much older veterans. It must be remembered that Richard Gonzales is nearing 40 years old and that goes to our other seasoned players as well.
If Team Indonesia considered themselves far out from other South East Asian Countries (Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam), how much more of our Philippine Team when Team Indonesia easily defeated them during the last METTA Cup.
So how can WE improve our standings? We could not even send our prodigies to train in China or Europe or at least participate in International Tournaments since this is only allotted to those “who can afford”. If Team Indonesia despite the presence of their Rich Benefactor could no longer be at par with Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, then IMHO, we still have a looooooooooongggggggggggg way to go.
logic lang naman ito diba
etong gin point out ni grandmaster.
ang nangyari sa metta cup, i think for them is more of a fun lang and camaderie
though dont get me wrong, the effect is yet still good for us.!!! thanks to ting.
sinasabi ko ngang mabuti they still would like to come here pa
namasyal ba sila dito? for me dapat ito. dapat pa nga may liason officer for tour.
“icing on the cake ito” dyan ang bonding minsan.
ang pingpong ngayon , very higly comercialize na —no money no honey ! at very HIGHLY SCIENTIFIC PA , HIGH TECH !
kung may glorious days tayo in the past eh saglit, short live tapos wala na.!
ewan ko kung tama ako.
xxxxxxxxx
“instant winning” posible kaya? okay try natin, weve been trying for decades narin naman di ba ? try pa uli
so at least you now see na, may dinulot bang maganda ang simpling dayo nila ? meron naku napakalaki !!!
kahit lang man ma reveal ————where we are na !!!

Congratulations to the organizers and participants of the recently concluded METTA cup. From what I have read it was a great success. It was unfortunate that one of our visitors had some items stolen from them. Speaking from experience having liason officers assigned to foreign teams could help prevent unfortunate events like this from happening(I was a TATAP liason officer once), something to consider for the future. Also I saw a comment where the benefits derived from promoting Liha Table Tennis was questioned. I think if the ITTF was intrigued enough to send sports scientist over to observe how Liha has been preserved in our culture, tells me that this is a significant endevour and should be cultivated and brought forward into the national and international scene. I live abroad and I was conversing with an American table tennis player, the moment I mentioned sandpaper rackets he replied “Liha”, just goes to show how what we thought to be insignificant is actually very special when looked at from the right perspective.
so now dumadating na ang panahon na
u mean to say na
kapag sinabi ang the word ” liha” table tennis
the country phillipines emerges agad at nasa isip nila tama ba jo?
parang sinabi mong toothpaste ay colgate , camera film is kodak,
goma table tennis is china, at liha ay Philippines,
naging trademark na ? tama ba jo? eh di napuna na tayo sa buong mundo in some other way……

Pete,
Not only do they know that the term “Liha” originates from the Philippines, they have become familiar with the word “Liha” and they associate it as very high level sandpaper table tennis (standard bearer being the Philippines).
Amazing, with the internet many people have seen the liha games and most are amazed but some are skeptical because they cannot believe the strokes they see on youtube are done with a liha paddle. I have to show my liha paddle and tell them that this is the same surface. To some it is like discovering something they thought did not exist. I heard a negative comment once where a european player said, “why would you use sandpaper which is used for making tables as part of your racket”, I said not everybody in the world can easily afford a 15 dollar sheet of rubber that has to be replaced every so often. There are talented competitive people in the world who do not have easy access to “butterfly” equipment. I said in the world of Liha rich and not rich compete on equal footing , expensive equipment not a factor.
or meron tayong galing – di lang alam ng most pilipino ———– as a matter of fact, oftentimes, di ito alam ng maraming ‘modern” player, its the “older” player like us, who knows a little about history lang na may alam dito and mostly ikinahihya pa somehow. pinagtatawanan pa. ng “modern” player. naku!
just because peole surrounding us wore leather shoes in modern age , while we still wear the lowly bakya shoes of the 1940s pa – ismolin or tawanan na natin yung “culutual” bakya shoes natin..— ganuun ba mga kababayan? or while peole wore the americana while tayo barong. tawanan na natin yung barong natin dahil di ito sinusuot nga katabi natin and always use americana as the standard?
muay thai boxing di lalago sa mundo, kung lage lage nalang iniisip ng mga thai people na should be, ought to be – fist to fist boxing combat lang lagi ang tama , the rest mali, or barok na ! mabuti pa ang thai peole. – have a high sense of “nationalism “pa
– similar to the example of what ive just said, muay thai. ——————– why not? rather than nothing at all.
ipagyabang natin yung anong meron/magaling ,”cultural” sa atin, wag maliitin ! !!

First of all congratulations to Mr. Ting Ledesma, Mr. Jackson Que and company for the very successful METTA CUP 2, probably the biggest Table Tennis tournament in the Philippines!!
My comment is about the raffle. I read a copy of the prospectus in mid-march and I noted some discrepancies:
1. Metta 2 promised 4 cellphones, in the actual raffle they gave away 10 or 12 (it could have been more pls correct me if I’m wrong.)
2. Did they upgrade the cellcards to usb flashdrives?
3. There were a lot of mp5′s given away (not listed in the prospectus).
4. An LCD TV was given away (also not listed in the prosctus)…….
…KEEP GOING SIRS!!! Looking forward to Metta 3!

sinabi na nganng kung ganyang klaseng prizes
puwede na , let more other foreighners join in pa
yung lang naman ang ibig kong sabihin even way from the first thread tungkol nito. thats is why i brought out about the “surprised i”indonesian arrival
it would have been double folds yung mga entries , kung naibrodcast ito right from the beginning.

To Mr. Pete Cua,
With all due respect sir let me tell you that I have nothing against liha and in fact I am as proud as you are whenever people here in abroad appreciates our origin. My only problem is with you, I cant help but notice that you just keep on jacking up forum topics with your liha escapades. Di mo ba nakikita na the topic here is for the METTA tourney? Alam ko na meron kang mission na pasikatin ang liha sa ibang bansa but you really have to know where and when it is proper to insert your liha stories. Liha is not just the answer may I tell you, I know that there are other ways to help our fellow pongers in our country so pls. give them there chance. Pls. stop jacking up topics cause its not healthy. You can always write a thousand topics in your own liha thread no one is stopping you, but pls. spare other topics for the benefit of others.
Sorry for my comment but i’m speaking as to what I feel.
kahit po mga t-shirt na pinamigay namin hindi rin namin sinabi yun,we metta group prefer not to broadcast everything that will happen or promise something that we cant give.we just rather show it to all of you what metta cup can do to the Philippines table tennis right now and promise to make it better and better.
About the foreign players that we invited, actually sir pete kung alam mo ang kung gaano kami ninerbiyos sa paghanda sa pagdating nila dito you will understand our
side.

@joolabee welcome to tatapx!
Thank you for the video, I posted that link 2 days ago. Should you have videos to share, feel free to post it. I am collecting video links and sharing it here… http://www.tatapx.org/groups/table-tennis-video/
@kakosa
Agree with you, it was not an easy task but METTA managed to impress them all. So when is METTA 3?
Thanks po harry.

Thank you, added it to our video collection
Sir Harry,
@kakosa
Congratulations again sir for your inspiring tournament, I know many pongers will look forward for your 3rd METTA cup next year. They told me that it is the only tournament that gave more (in terms of prizes) than to what it is written in your prospectus. I really hope organizers like you will soon have the support of major sponsors for a more beautiful tournament. My friends even told me that you could have bought a brand new car for what you have spent in your whole tournament but you chose to make your fellow pongers happy instead.
Alam ko na ang goal mo ay ang pasikatin ang table tennis sa pinas, well to me you have just made a big leap with your beautiful tournament. IMHO TATAP should be giving you the tournament of the year award (just an idea to TATAP that they should recognize people like you yearly) just to give organizers and players alike some inspiration to continue their support to our sport.
Congratulations again sir along with your team for a beautiful tournament, well done!
Hindi sya humina ang loob. He takes these as a lesson nga and we or I give it as brotherly advise.
Ewan ko ang iba. Or pananaw ng iba,——-.at kami handang tumulong.
Cyguro 2nd car na nya ito sacrifice. First car worth na siguro ginastos nya eversince just for pingpong lang.
For One step further. Di naman lahat ito dapat i shoulder nya burden – lahat tutulong.———— both paid and volunteer.
Daming tutulong for the good of philipine table tennis
