Here’s an update from Fil-Chi (Manila) trip to Puerto Pricesa, it is their second pingpong tourism trip within the year of 2008 with Thailand being the first.

Here’s a short video from Butterfly Japan about the shakehand backhand top-side spin over the table. Japanese call it Chiquita, name derived from Chiquita Banana maybe because the ball curves like banana. If you’ve been playing table tennis in the 80’s or earlier, you may know more about our table tennis history especially if you played for our country. I started to play table tennis in 1982 with Liha and my chance to play with high caliber pongers started in MMPTTC or Precinto in 1985, mostly sponge players with few Liha and Hardbat players like Hardbat master Mang Tayong and famous Mang Pilo Ybañez who play Liha, Hardbat and Sponge. In short, I don’t know much about the history of Philippine Table Tennis, but there are few articles in the internet that the Philippines had great table tennis history. There should be more from Bulletin Today (now Manila Bulletin) archive and un-published story from our veteran players.
