Day 1 Highlights (June 28, 2008)

Lights!, Camera!, ACTION!!!!!

After a ceremonial program with Former Games and Amusement Board Commissioner and now incumbent City Councilor of Bacolod HON. ALEX A. PAGLUMOTAN, all participating teams paddled out to outwit, outshine & outnumber for the kick-off THE 2ND SANLOU’S GOODWILL TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT.

In anticipation of the much awaited fight between Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and David “Dangerous” Diaz, Sanlou’s Table Tennis Club’s atmosphere was transformed into an Epic battle Arena between teams that strives for both “Prize and Pride” by displaying courage, style, strength, endurance, stamina, and a true example of a competitive athlete.

One of the major highlights of the day is the match between Joola – Royal Truckhaus and Ioilo City’s Guimbal Table Tennis Club.  It was the match between “The Executive” Arnie Uy (Joola) and The Rising Talent Jee Ar Gicana(Iloilo) that brought the crowd into a heart-pounding moment  of exhilarating excitement as they alternately snatch the lead on each other. The Lopue’s Table Tennis Association (LOPTTA) headed by its President Dr. Leonito “Diotay” Lopue will hold The 1st LOPUE’S National Age-Group Championships on May 22-25, 2008 at LOPTTA Table Tennis Center, Lopue’s San Sebastian Annex Building, Araneta-San Sebastian Sts., Bacolod City.

In this regard, we would like to invite you and your team to come and participate in this momentous event. We aim to promote table tennis nationwide by conducting this age-group tournament annually so as to gather top paddlers in their respective age category as well as to discover future talents in this sport.

AFTER attending church on Wednesday night officiated by Archbishop Romulo Valles of Zamboanga, the Davao Region athletes were inspired the next day and that included the women’s table tennis team that won this year’s national crown.

Thanks to Jacqueline Caragao, Debby Kate Mascardo, and Mirabel Roferos of Holy Cross of Davao College and Jocelyn Enaro of the University of Mindanao, it was another great ride for Davao. Read the rest of this entry »

The 8th Lopues Table Tennis Association Age-Group Tournament is scheduled Sept. 22-23 at the LOPTTA facility inside Lopue’s San Sebastian in Bacolod City.

Participants will vie for eight titles, namely, boys and girls’ 10-under, 12-under, 14-under and 17-under singles, LOPTTA’s Mark Francis Jimenez said. The drawing of lots for the tournament is scheduled at 4 p.m. on Sept. 19, he said.
