This girl really rocks, Pierre Marie Cossid was a talented table tennis player who won the 2006 U.S. Open Under 3700 Doubles with her coach John Allen.

Mindanao Qualifiers Rule

Dec.12, 2008, Cagayan de Oro City;

Sergio Benoya, Jr., Janine Dy of Cagayan de Oro City top the Group A while Eugene Paradela, Monica Bordado of Iligan City top the Group B with a no-loss record in the 14&under Boys and Girls events respectively group round robin eliminations in the opening day of Phil. Olympics Festival table tennis national finals.  Completing the magic four includes Ronald Donaire of Gensan, Angelie Modulin of Davao del Norte, Alexis Bolante of Bulacan and May Ann Palmero of Cagayan de Oro.

The 17&under category will be played tomorrow, Saturday and the 20&under will be on Sunday.

Semi-final round and the championships are set on the 15th at SM Attrium Cagayan de Oro City.

Lariba Wins Class A Open

Central Market, Iligan City: 13-year old Ian Lariba of Cagayan de Oro defeated (11-9) fellow clubmate and TATAP’s VP for Region 10, Sgt. Dario Hernane in the decisive championship showdown. Lefty Lariba manage to overcome the 5-0 defeceit at the start of the final set and win with her devastating power forehand shots against the veteran Hernane. She also booted-out Iligan City’s 3rd seed Jonathan Gesulga in the semi-final round in the just recently concluded 4th Mayor Lawrence LL. Cruz Table Tennis Tournament Age Group.

11-yr old Rules Mindanao Olympics

SM City, Cagayan de Oro City:

Lefty Serknight Benoya of Misamis Oriental clinched the 14&under championship gold medal while Palaro silver medalist Xyjan Ramos of Cagayan de Oro tops the triple-tie for the 17&under in the just concluded Phil. Olympic Festival, Table Tennis Mindanao Qualifying Games.

The 11-yr old underdog Serknight Benoya clears the way in the winners bracket by sending out two heavily favorites, his elder brother Sergio Benoya, and Reynaldo Soriano, Jr. of Cagayan de Oro in the losers bracket for the top-8 double elimination system. Sergio Benoya’s win over Soriano, Jr. in the semi-finals, encounter again his younger brother in the twice to beat finals. The elder brother proves to be too strong in the first game and continue the play in the much applauded 2-all deciding final match. At the end game of 12-14, the fighting spirit and the struggle of the younger brother give him the gold medal.
