TING Ledesma has taken it – the game – most of the time for fun.
This time in the just recent concluded 10th DONIC Chancellor’s Cup table tennis national invitational championship, Ledesma proved his worth when he captured the men’s open single’s battle of the champion title last April 3, 2008.
Ledesma showed flashes of backspins to score a stunning 11-9, 10-12, 11-8, 11-7 victory over Japhet Adaza to sweep all five matches in that single division at the University of the Philippines College of Human Kinetics in Diliman Quezon City.
“I’m not expecting to win this title because there are many players around,” said the 35-year-old Ledesma who is the president of the Metropolitan Table Tennis Association. “When I played in the championship, I just did what I needed to do.” Read the rest of this entry »

Ian Lariba, the current Phil. women’s no. 1 and a freshman of Corpus Christi School tops the Class B singles, Class B doubles and Class C doubles. She defeated veteran Geody Ortalla of Pagadian City in the singles class B finals. Teaming with her trainor, Igoy Dacayanan, they tamed Davao’s top junior players, Zoren Mendiola and Fritz Maganda in the exciting decisive match of the class B doubles finals. Again, with her school team mate 13 year old Mae Ann Palmero, they got the gold in the class C finals beating the veteran tandem of Engr. Lito Tac-an and Titing Medrano.
Phil. Men’s no. 2, Julius Esposo garnered the gold in the Class A singles Finals against CDO’s top caliber Allan Neri. Class A Team competition champion was PNP group of Henberd and Dodong Ortalla versus the group of Sgt. Boboy Calianga of CDO.
The 3-day competition was participated by 200 pongers around the region coming from Zamboanga, Pagadian, Bukidnon, Bislig, Butuan, Davao, Iligan’s top 2 players Tata Lamayan , Rommel Verano, and Manila’s top calibers–Julius Esposo, Henberd Ortalla, Rodel Valle, Michael Dalumpines and Tots dela Cruz.
