Defending champion Champ Nanaman of DotPH was defeated by Speed Tanque of LOPTTA in the deciding set of the quarter-finals, the scholar challenge in the opening of the 2008 Huaching Invitational Tournament here in Maguikay, Mandaue City. Nanaman’s poor service returns gave Tanque the power forehand spins pressure for the defending champion–12-10, 7-11, 11-8, 11-6. Nico Cruz of METTA lost to Glendo Nayre of University of Cebu in a deciding set–11-9, 4-11, 11-7, 4-11, 11-8. Michael Motel, Speed Tanque, Glendo Nayre and the winner between Handel Yap vs. Glenn Rodriguez will see the semi-finals action tomorrow. Around 13 teams competed in this prestigious yearly Tournament: Read the rest of this entry »

THE men of Philippine National Police (PNP) – Butterfly squad made Baguio City one of their victims in the ongoing first Philippine Table Tennis Championship team event.
PNP-Butterfly, relying heavily on Santo Tomas U coach Henberd Ortalla and Paul Puentespinas, swept Baguio City, 3-0, in the quarterfinal round to make it to the semifinals Wednesday night at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Before reaching the quarterfinals, the many-time AFP-PNP Olympics champion PNP team also dismantled Pasay City (3-0) and Makati City (3-0) in the early round of the tournament organized by the Table Tennis Association of the Philippines (TATAP).
PNP meets Filipino-Chinese Athletic Association Federation (FCAAF) in the semifinals of the team event which participated by more than 30 local government units (LGU).
FCAAF defeated Philippine Air Force, 3-2, in the quarterfinals round. Read the rest of this entry »

Team Huaching-A of Handel Yap, Julius Esposo and Jimboy Baring defeated Team University of Cebu-A of Emmanuel Motel and Michael Motel in the team finals (3-1) in the Elizabeth Mall Sports Challenge last Aug. 9-10, 2008 Cebu City in a Singles-Doubles-Singles format.
Team UC-C of Dannel Jay Tormis and Tata Carreon settled for third place (3-2) against Team Huaching-C of coach Raffy San Juan and Jason Rodriguez.

A go signal for Ms. Jessica Jawad Honoridez table tennis squad to participate in the coming International Children Games in San Fransisco, California on July 10-15, 2008. University of Cebu kids garnered silver medals in the High School and Elementary singles competion in the 2008 Palawan Palarong Pambansa, while the collegiate rules the PRISAA for the 4th time headed by Michael Motel.
They are not the best team in the country but they have the sponsors for their expenses in joining International Games.
