• Davao’s wonderboy, Gil Ablanque knocked-out Cebu’s wonderboy, Dannel Jay Tormis in the 1st round. Both are lefties and Palaro Gold medalists Score: 10-12, 11-6, 5-11, 11-9, 11-7

Team Event:

• 13-year old Dannel Jay Tormis of University of Cebu defeated former Phil. Team Julius Esposo. Score: 9-11, 6-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-9 but Team Huaching-A won over University of Cebu.

Defending champion Champ Nanaman of DotPH was defeated by Speed Tanque of LOPTTA in the deciding set of  the quarter-finals, the scholar challenge in the opening of the 2008 Huaching Invitational Tournament here in Maguikay, Mandaue City.  Nanaman’s poor service returns gave Tanque the power forehand spins pressure for the defending champion–12-10, 7-11, 11-8, 11-6.  Nico Cruz of METTA  lost to Glendo Nayre of University of Cebu in a deciding set–11-9, 4-11, 11-7, 4-11, 11-8.  Michael Motel, Speed Tanque, Glendo Nayre and the winner between Handel Yap vs. Glenn Rodriguez will see the semi-finals action tomorrow.  Around 13 teams competed in this prestigious yearly Tournament: Read the rest of this entry →

The Hua Ching Foundation will have a  FREE HOLISTIC TABLE TENNIS CLINIC AND WORKSHOP SEMINAR on October 7, 8, and 9 from 5pm on wards at the 2nd floor Clotilde Commercial Complex Center ML Quezon  St. Casungtingan, Mandaue city.

Former national coach Jet Yatco will be the main speaker.
