Poverty not a hurdle for Pinoy table tennis champs

9:00 pm in Blogroll, Video by Harry

My wife just told me that ABS-CBN had a short Liha table tennis report. I guess most of you saw the report from TV Patrol.

The video was all about our Liha Pongers who were invited by USATTA to play the inaugural Liha event in US Open. The tournament actually highlight the long history of table tennis between US and the Philippines way back after the world war when Americans visited us with top caliber players like Cartland and Hardbat living legend and world champion Marty Reisman.

Unfortunately, the dream did not come true for so many reasons like THIS, THIS and THIS (TATAP official, sangkot sa human trafficking).

2:34 am in Blogroll by Harry

Here are the documents from USATT that I planned to post last week.

  1. Invitation letter from USATT addressed to TATAP
  2. Letter about Liha exhibition and playing of our national anthem
  3. Invitation letter from USATT addressed to TATAP, copy sent to US Embassy
  4. Letter from Lihador addressed to Hon. Harry Angpin
  5. Letter addressed to US Embassy last Friday

9:06 pm in News by Harry

Here are memorable pictures dated back after the World War II from Coach Freddie Ibañez (former National Coacch). Americans brought table tennis to us more than a decade earlier than the famous Ping Pong diplomacy in China.

Thanks to Peter Cua who brought Liha into international spotlight, he was Cebu to witness the 1st Serging Osmeña’s Cup and at the same time to hunt for priceless pictures.
