Who controls the players? PSC or DepEd?

11:48 am in Blogroll by Harry

Players may feel badly when they win a spot in the national training pool, sounds funny but this is true. There are more disadvantages especially if you are under 17 years old. Your Palarong Pambansa days are over and only few schools grant sports scholarship in college. Both are decade long issues but they only fall on deaf ears.

Aside from Palarong Pambansa, we have inter-school and some tournaments who deny you from participating because you have played the Olympics, Asian, SEAG or you are a member of the national training pool.

Here are the two lines taken from Palaro eligibility rules.
#3. He must not have played in the Olympic Games, Asian Games or SEAG.
#4. He must not be a member of the training pool of the Philippine Sports Commission.

You can read the photocopy here… Page 1 and Page 2.

Palarong Pambansa are for grassroots level and that is the reason from DepEd for the two lines above. Fair enough! The only advantage with that is to give chance to new talents and nothing more. There more disadvantages that DepEd and PSC are not aware of. Here are the few voices from our fellow ponger…
- cannot challenge the best from our training pool
- they took away the chance for our grassroots to challenge the spot in our training pool Read the rest of this entry →

The official site is finally up and the first post is “TATAP goes to Thailand without PSC support“.

Dirty politics? Yeah it is part of our life and we blame politics for everything wrong!

From now on, are we going run the show without PSC?
