2nd METTA

TALENTED young star Ian Lariba stood tall among participants to capture three crowns and steal the thunder from Indonesia in the last day of second Metropolitan Table Tennis Association (METTA) National Invitational Cup last Sunday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The 15-year-old Lariba, a member of the Philippine team since 2007, gained the girl’s 15-and-under singles plum, girl’s 17-and-under singles crown and the women’s open singles title in the event organized by METTA President Ting Ledesma.

“I’m inspired to play table tennis nowadays because I’m determined to prove my worth in the national team,” said Lariba. “This victory has boosted my confidence to play even in any international competitions.”
